🚀 What You Will Learn
- How to access the Sora 2 dashboard
- The formula for the perfect prompt
- How to use camera motion commands
- Extending and editing existing videos
Step 1: Accessing Sora 2
Currently, Sora 2 is available via the specialized Red Team access and select creative partners. However, OpenAI has started rolling out limited access to ChatGPT Plus users. To check if you have access:
- Log in to your OpenAI account.
- Switch the model selector to "Sora Alpha" or look for the Video generation tab.
- If you don't see it, join the official waitlist immediately.
Step 2: The Perfect Prompt Formula
Unlike Midjourney, Sora 2 needs descriptive storytelling rather than a bag of keywords. Use this structure:
Bad Prompt: "A cat running."
Good Prompt: "A fluffy calico cat sprinting through a neon-lit Tokyo alleyway at night, reflections on wet pavement, shot on 35mm lens, cinematic lighting, fast tracking shot."
Step 3: Mastering Camera Controls
You can direct Sora 2 like a movie director. Add these commands to the end of your prompt:
- --pan right/left Moves the camera horizontally alongside the subject.
- --tilt up/down Angles the camera up or down (great for revealing skylines).
- --zoom in/out Dynamic zoom to focus on details or reveal context.
- --track Follows the subject as they move through the scene.
Step 4: Extending Videos
One of Sora 2's most powerful features is extending a video. If you generated a 5-second clip but want to see what happens next:
- Click "Edit" on your generated video.
- Select "Extend Video".
- Add a new prompt describing the next sequence (e.g., "The cat jumps onto a fire escape").
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Overloading the prompt: Don't ask for too many conflicting things at once.
- Ignoring physics: While Sora 2 is great, it struggles with complex interactions like hands eating food. Keep it simple.
- Wrong aspect ratio: Specify "16:9" for YouTube or "9:16" for TikTok/Reels in your settings.
